Whether you’re a small child or a big child, the classic version of Sloppy Joe’s will NEVER lose it’s appeal. That dripping messy sandwich is literally one of my favorite childhood memories!
As a family, Friday nights were our “game night,” AND the night when we would have something a little more special. We didn’t get it very often, but when we did, we were always SO excited!
This may not be as good as my older sister’s… but it’s delicious!
As an adult I do sometimes like to be a little more “mature” about some things, so I dress up my Sloppy Joe’s with a little more dignity on a loaded nachos plate or atop a beautifully soft, buttered baked potato.
(Though I must say… both my husband and I have been known to have the messy sandwich at lunch! :D)

- Brown ground beef together with salt, pepper, onions and fresh garlic until ground meat is fully cooked. (If there is extra grease in the pot, strain the ground beef before proceeding to the next step.
- Add the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, apple cider vinegar and Worchester sauce. Mix well.
- Allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes. Feel free to add water if more liquid is needed.
This is a very easy recipe to make a lot of all at once. It freezes and thaws very well, and is perfect for large gatherings of people.
My favorite ways to use Classic Sloppy Joe's:
-On top of baked potatoes
-As a topping for loaded nachos
-On a bun as a sandwich
-On a pizza crust with cheese
